my love of writing
On a whim, i took a playwriting course when attending carnegie Mellon University’s pre-college program. I just wanted to try my hand at it, as i have always had an overactive imagination, and i wanted an outlet to express that.
I am happy to say that it was love at first written word. As I was growing and understanding myself as an artist, I knew that writing needed to be apart of my life as a creator.
For my bfa senior thesis, i wrote and acted in my first one act play, a two hander entitled vs. vs. deals with how one handles death, the side effects of grief, and if given the chance to make amends before moving on, yourself, would you? This was not even two years after my father’s passing, so as you can see, I had death on the brain.
As i went through my post graduate studies at the atlantic acting school, my love for horror and sci-fi only grew. it was also during this time that my ideas solidified into what became known to me as my passion project: A tv pilot.
This pilot combines everything I’m searching for through writing: My need to create, my favorite genres, and an outlet for the inner workings of my overactive imagination. my hope is that, through this project, i can help to increase the presence of women in the sci-fi/horror genres, as well as challenge some of the common tropes in those genres today.
